Sofia Park School

As part of a 39-acre multi-phase development project in Sofia, Bulgaria, MBB was awarded the design of a new K-12 school as well as a high-rise residential tower, master plan concept and landscape design of six acres of site amenities, in association with local partner Planning EOOD and landscape architect RKLA.

MBB developed the programming and Stage 2 Design for Sofia Park School, the new International Baccalaureate school, working closely with International School Services (ISS). The school is organized around a series of courtyards that provide intimate and protected outdoor spaces that serve as extensions of classrooms. Hallways and common spaces are light-filled and have seating and technology that support the pedagogical emphasis on collaboration and experiential learning. The primary entrance and a student lounge are oriented towards a stunning view of the snow-capped Vitosha Mountain which becomes the backdrop for community-wide events.
